EXPERIENCE YOU CAN'T TEACH IN A CLASSROOM
Nearly Four Decades of Experience. One Standard: Fix It Right.
At Midway Driveline & Diesel, experience isn't measured simply by how many years we've been in business. It's measured by the thousands of vehicles diagnosed, engines built, drivetrains rebuilt, difficult problems solved and customers who have trusted us to get the job done right.
My career in the automotive industry began at just 16 years old, when I started my apprenticeship and discovered what would become a lifelong passion for automotive technology, diagnostics and performance.
I quickly learned that I didn't want to simply replace parts—I wanted to understand why things failed.
Throughout my apprenticeship and technical training, I consistently achieved marks in the 90% range, ultimately earning my Interprovincial certification. From there, I continued pursuing advanced education and specialized technical training throughout the automotive industry.
But the most valuable education came from nearly four decades of solving real-world problems.
DIAGNOSIS BEFORE PARTS
DIESEL BECAME A SPECIALTY
As diesel technology became increasingly important in the automotive and truck industry, I recognized a growing need for technicians who truly understood it.So I made diesel technology a major focus of my career. What began as another area of study eventually became one of my specialties.
Today, Midway has extensive experience diagnosing, repairing and servicing diesel platforms including: Cummins • Ford Power Stroke • GM Duramax • Volkswagen TDI • Mercedes-Benz Diesel From mechanical engine problems and fuel systems to turbocharging, emissions, electrical faults and computer-controlled systems, we approach diesel diagnosis the same way we approach everything else: Find the cause—not just the symptom.
WHEN THE PROBLEM ISN'T OBVIOUS
Modern vehicles aren't just mechanical machines anymore. They're networks of computers, modules, sensors and communication systems operating alongside complex mechanical components.
That's why advanced diagnosis is such an important part of what we do. Electrical problems, intermittent faults, CAN/network communication issues, drivability concerns and difficult engine-management problems require more than a scan tool and a list of fault codes. A trouble code tells you where to start. Experience tells you where to look next. Some of the most satisfying jobs are the difficult ones—the vehicles that have already had parts replaced or have been through other shops without the original problem being solved. Those are the problems that put experience to work.
EVERYTHING UNDER ONE ROOF
I opened Midway Driveline & Diesel 16 years ago with the goal of creating something increasingly difficult to find in today's automotive industry:A true full-service repair and rebuilding facility. Rather than sending major components somewhere else, we have the experience, equipment and capabilities to perform an extensive range of specialized work in-house.
Our services include:
• Gas and diesel engine diagnosis, repair and rebuilding • Cummins, Power Stroke and Duramax diesel service • Volkswagen TDI and Mercedes-Benz diesel service • Advanced electrical diagnosis • Computer and vehicle-network/CAN diagnostics • Diesel fuel-system diagnosis • Turbocharger and forced-induction diagnosis and repair • Emissions-system diagnosis • Transmission rebuilding and repair • Transfer-case rebuilding • Differential rebuilding, gear setup and repair • Driveline diagnosis and repair • Performance engine building • Nitrous, turbocharged and supercharged applications • Custom steel and aluminum fabrication • Machining and specialty modifications • General automotive and truck repair
I became involved early with Ontario's vehicle emissions programs and developed a particular interest in diagnosing difficult emissions failures. These weren't always simple repairs. They were often vehicles with problems that weren't immediately obvious—the type of problems that required understanding fuel control, ignition, engine management, emissions systems and electronics rather than simply replacing components and hoping for the best. That experience helped establish a philosophy that remains at the heart of Midway today: Diagnose the problem. Understand the failure. Then repair it properly. I later continued my professional development through ASE — Automotive Service Excellence — training, along with numerous specialized courses and technical endorsements provided throughout the automotive industry. Technology has changed dramatically since I entered this trade. So I kept learning.
FROM OLD-SCHOOL HORSEPOWER. TO MODERN TECHNOLOGY
My experience has never been limited to conventional automotive repair. Engine building and performance became another major part of my career. Over the years, I've built everything from traditional high-performance engines to custom nitrous, turbocharged and supercharged combinations. That work naturally expanded into custom vehicle construction.
I've built numerous classic and custom hot rods for customers, combining mechanical engineering, performance engine building, electrical work and custom steel and aluminum fabrication. There's something valuable about knowing how to build rather than simply knowing how to replace. That philosophy continues today.
MIDWAY DRIVELINE & DIESEL
Experience. Diagnostics. Craftsmanship. Integrity. From everyday repairs to problems others can't solve. Midway is equipped to handle it.
WE DON'T JUST REPLACE IT. WE CAN BUILD IT.
One of Midway's greatest advantages is our in-house machining and fabrication capability. When a component needs to be modified, repaired, machined or custom fabricated, we're not always limited to what's available in a parts catalogue. We have the ability to create solutions. That capability comes from decades of engine building, machining, fabrication, custom vehicle construction and mechanical problem solving. It's a combination that's becoming increasingly rare in the automotive repair industry.
REPUTATION IS EARNED
There's something I value even more than technical ability:Integrity. I've always believed that customers deserve a straightforward answer about their vehicle. If something needs repairing, I'll tell you why. If it doesn't need replacing, I'll tell you that too. Our reputation, customer reviews and repeat business have been built by providing accurate diagnosis, honest recommendations and quality workmanship. We aren't interested in selling unnecessary repairs. We're interested in solving problems and building long-term relationships with our customers. Because after nearly four decades in this industry, I've learned that the most valuable thing a repair shop can earn isn't another job. It's a customer's trust.
